The Danube Delta - Adventure.

One of my favourite fishing places is the Suez Channel, because, being less accessible, only a few fishermen get to these places, and that is why the pike bites more often. The homwort and the waterlilies grow on the channel, require much skill in handling the spoon, and the drill is much more exciting taking into account the obstacles. This year I have been nicely surprised by the capture of quite big items such as the ones in the image approximately 2 kilos each - 5^th of October.

One of the days I decided to accompany my two cousins, Florin and Vasile on a fishing trip. They are professional fishermen. We thought of leaving on Monday the 7^th of October and come back home on Wednesday night! We were going to sleep over night in tents on a reed island in Lumina Lake, where my two cousins have set their camp and where they kept their fishing tools. I was planning on fishing for pike, but the bad weather, the wind and the rain made us change our mind. There wasn't anything left to do but check on their nets, to take the fish to the fishery and go back home on the same day. In the picture you can see Florin with the fish he caught in a flood patch in the Lumina Lake.

I went fishing with my cousin Dragos on the 10th of October, on the Chiril Lake. Among the pikes caught, there was also the trophy in the picture (3 kilos pike).

Puiulet Lake is a place where one can constantly catch pike. You don't get tens of kilos anymore, but still you can catch beautiful items even on stormy days. This time too, Puiulet has been consistent, surpassing all of our expectations, on the 8th of November, a gloomy day with fog and drizzle. Among the pikes we fished (about 8 or 9) there were the ones in the picture weighing over 2.5 kilos each. .

Conclusions: This summer in the "Swan's Nest" Lake; pikes started biting at the beginning of July. The news that pikes began their attack has through in the lake area a lot of sportive fishermen. The lake is quite small and shallow, so after about three weeks, the pikes weren't as interested in our spoons that they had already met, and the results were more and more slender. At the beginning of August, the water level began to increase very strongly (at Bratislava, the Danube had the highest level in the last 100 years), and the water in the lake became muddy and we couldn't catch any pike with our spoons. A similar phenomena was noticed in the Chiril Lake where, after a continuous 2-3 weeks fishing, the results were slender. In the Puiulet Lake the constancy of the pike's ………… was there all throughout autumn. Generally speaking, fishing this autumn was a bit poor, influenced by the weather and the oscillating water level, which was very high towards the end, and stayed like that all throughout winter. Let us not forget that in a time of 3 month the water level increased 3 times, while usually during fall, the water level would slightly decade until the rainy period.
